take in SOME HISTORY...
· Historic Wakefield – Main Street stroll offers a variety of local business from an apothecary, glass blowing studio, gift shops, and taverns. And a great yoga studio for those who might want to stretch it out. Finish it up with sweet ice cream at Brickley’s.
· Wickford Village –provides picturesque waterfront streets lined with one-of-a-kind shops, galleries, antiques, and restaurants nestled among beautifully maintained churches, colonial homes and gardens.
· Newport – The “City by the Sea” has evolved from a haven for religious dissenters, a prominent Colonial-era port and Gilded Age playground to a locale ripe with art, culture, and history. Tour the historic attractions (walk, trolley, boat) experience the vibrant arts and cultural scene, or the many restaurants and shops. Visit a Gilded Age Mansion, the International Tennis Hall of Fame, America’s first Synagogue or Quaker Meeting House; all which can be found right off of Thames Street. Last but not least, walk down Bowen’s Wharf which has a selection of good restaurants and quaint shops.
